We enjoyed meeting everyone at Central Michigan University for our first workshop series featuring ArcGIS Online (AGO) and ArcGIS Enterprise Portal. Thank you for your participation.

CMPASS Unveils New Logo!

We are excited to introduce the new logo for our newly merged organization, the Community of Michigan Professionals Advancing Spatial Sciences (CMPASS). This new identity reflects both our mission and our Michigan roots.

At its center is a compass, a timeless symbol of guidance and direction that also forms the letter “C” in CMPASS. Within the compass sits the outline of Michigan, grounding our community and placing the state at the core of the design. A rising sun completes the image, representing Michigan’s unique distinction as the only state where you can experience both sunrise and sunset over freshwater from the same spot.

This thoughtful design was created by graphic designer Bear Nelson, who has a special tie to the mapping community as the son of cartographer John Nelson. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Bear, and we are thrilled with the creativity and care he brought to this project. His design not only honors our geography and history, but also symbolizes the bright future of CMPASS and the geospatial profession in Michigan.

As we transition to this new brand, thank you for your patience while we update our website, social media, and other materials. We are excited to share more with you in the months ahead.
